Position: Teacher (K-8) Reports to: Principal Takla Nation is seeking multiple K-8 Certified Teachers for the Nus Wadeezulh Community School. Science and Math background and Experience with the ‘Read Well’ and BC Literacy and Numeracy Curriculum is preferred. Nus Wadeezulh Community School is located in Takla Landing, British Columbia. We believe that teachers are integral and important people in the lives of our children. We have high expectations of our teachers as we have high expectations of our students.
Successful applicants will: • Be a great communicator who perseveres when faced with challenges • Possess solid instructional skills and can deliver BC Ministry of Education curriculum in a culturally responsive manner • Be a Certified Teacher in BC or eligible for certification • Experience working with and supporting students with special needs and students who are not yet meeting expectations in their grade level is helpful • Be student focused and assess student learning using student work plans • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and can engage students to promote learning and confidence in a variety of ways • Experience teaching in a First Nation School preferred • Embrace continuous professional development • Embrace a school-wide approach to teaching Salary is according to the school grid and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Remote allowance will also be paid. Subsidized housing is available adjacent to the school. The Nation is exploring flexible scheduling with its teachers to promote work life balance.
Requirements: • Education Degree / Teaching Certification are required • Solid instruction skills and capable of delivering BC Ministry of Education curriculum in a culturally responsive manner • Criminal Record Check is required.
